Welcome to 2025 School YEar

Kia ora,

Over the start of this week we have been meeting as a staff as we prepare for the 2025 year. It will be great to see students and parents back tomorrow.

On Friday afternoon you will receive the first of our regular end of week updates, these are sent on the last school day of each week.  They are an important way that we can communicate upcoming events and other important information.

Can we also add a huge welcome to the many new families joining us in 2025.

This email contains information about:

  • Access from Papanui Club with ongoing building work
  • Mihi Whakatau to welcome new students, staff and families
  • Student Allergies
  • Meet the Teacher BBQ

Blessings

Alistair

Access from Papanui Club with ongoing building work

For the first few days of the 2025 School year access from the Papanui Club will involve walking on the grass behind the Music Room and Library to access the school.

At this stage we expect the normal access on a sealed path to be restored by about the 10th February or earlier.

As you will see when you return the construction of 2 new classrooms is well underway and will be completed during Term 1. Access through the club carpark gate will be maintained during this time.

Thank you

Mihi Whakatau to welcome new students, staff and families

The first day for pupils is Wednesday 29th January  This is a regular timetabled day with classes starting at 8:50 and finishing at 2:45.  At the start of the day we will have a Mihi Whakatau to welcome our new families.

When students arrive, they should go to their classroom, where they will be welcomed by their teacher before we head to the Mihi Whakatau starting just after 9am.

The Mihi Whakatau  is to welcome our new pupils, families and staff.  This will be held on the court area outside the Year 1-4 classrooms (Harakeke to Kowhai 4).  All parents are welcome to attend this event, we would particularly like to invite any parents new to Emmanuel Christian School to join us and be welcomed into our school community.

Student Allergies

Some of our students have a serious allergy to  Nuts (including Peanuts) and Kiwifruit which can cause anaphylaxis. Anaphylaxis is the most severe form of allergic reaction, resulting in loss of consciousness and/or breathing and in worst case scenarios, death, if they do not receive medical attention in time.

We are asking for all families to please respect and understand the seriousness of this and ask that Nuts and kiwifruit are not included in lunches or morning tea food. This is to keep everyone safe, especially our young students. Thank you for your support

Meet the Teacher BBQ

Tuesday 4th February

On Tuesday afternoon we will have an opportunity for parents to meet with your child(ren)’s teacher and hear about how the class will operate in 2025.

Teachers will be in their classrooms at 3:05pm and repeated  at 4pm where they will introduce themselves, talk about the class and provide an opportunity for any questions.

A BBQ with bread and sausages will run from 3:30-4:15 as a chance for us to gather as a community.
