ECS Update Term 3, Week 7 – Friday 6th September 2024
|
|
Kia ora Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome to the Term 3, Week 7 Newsletter.
This week has had a number of different events. Along with the Middle School speech finals, we have also had 30 students out for 2 days at the Christian Schools Middle School Leadership conference.
On Wednesday we celebrated together at our annual Cultural Day, this was a fantastic day full of colour, energy and lots of food. I would like to pass on a huge thank you to all the parents who made this possible, and represented their cultures so well. It is such a blessing to have such a diverse range of cultures in our school community, it brings a real richness to us all.
Blessings,
Alistair

When is my child well enough to go to school?
|
Attending school on a regular basis is really important, however, we also know that there are times when a child is unwell and staying home is the best thing for them to do.
Identifying when you should keep your child home, and when they should return after being unwell can be difficult. To support you in making this call the Ministries of Health and Education have produced some guidance for parents (and schools). While this doesn’t answer every question you may have, it does provide some useful advice.
An example of this is that a child should return to school after vomiting or diarrhoea only after they have been clear from these symptoms for 48 hours (2 days).
The guidance can be found HERE

We are thrilled to share an exciting new project that we believe will bring great educational value to our school community: the creation of a school community garden. This garden will be a special place where students from both the middle school block and the juniors can come together, learn, and grow.
A school garden offers a unique opportunity for our students to connect with nature and each other. It will be a living classroom where they can engage in hands-on learning, develop a sense of responsibility, and experience the satisfaction of nurturing and caring for plants. It’s a space where students from both the middle school block and the junior classes can all participate in nurturing and caring for something special.
To bring this vision to life, we need your support. We aim to raise $1,200 to cover the costs of creating concrete pathways, ensuring the longevity of our garden. Your contribution will have a lasting impact for years to come. Any donation, regardless of size, will help us create this wonderful space for our children.
We have received donations totalling $207 so far. Thank you!
See the attached letter for more information.

A massive thank you to all the parents who helped us make the Cultural Day this year so special.
It was an incredible blessing to have you all involved and working together to provide such a rich experience for our E.C.S whānau.
Thank you too, for the effort parents put into sending your children along in special clothing of the various countries. Watching the parade of colour in the morning was amazing.
A true celebration of our diverse school community – United we stand in Christ!
