World Vision

This week, Emmanuel Christian School were awarded a Milestone Award for an incredible 30 years of fundraising for the World Vision 40 Hour Challenge.

This year, we raised over $2000 to help frontline communities fight the impacts of climate change and restore forests. Together, we can make a difference! Thank you to all who have been involved.

School Garden Project

We are thrilled to share an exciting new project that we believe will bring great educational value to our school community: the creation of a school community garden. This garden will be a special place where students from both the middle school block and the juniors can come together, learn, and grow.

A school garden offers a unique opportunity for our students to connect with nature and each other. It will be a living classroom where they can engage in hands-on learning, develop a sense of responsibility, and experience the satisfaction of nurturing and caring for plants. It’s a space where students from both the middle school block and the junior classes can all participate in nurturing and caring for something special.

To bring this vision to life, we need your support. We aim to raise $1,200 to cover the costs of creating concrete pathways, ensuring the longevity of our garden. Your contribution will have a lasting impact for years to come. Any donation, regardless of size, will help us create this wonderful space for our children.

See the attached letter for more information.

Tongan Language Week

Mālō e lelei!

This week is Uike Kātoanga’i ‘o e Lea Faka-Tonga (Tonga Language Week).
As part of
our celebration for this week, we had the privilege of having our beautiful little Tongan ākonga teach us to sing and dance to this Tongan worship song called Malimali mai in the Junior assembly.
We also learnt lots about traditional Tongan clothes.

Mālō ‘aupito to our Tongan whānau!

Library Van Visit

What a glorious day we had for our library van visit! We had many excited children lining up, eager to see what books were on offer.

We are hoping to get the van back in Term 1 next year, so if your child does not have a library card – or it’s lost – pick up a form from the office or me, and we’ll get that sorted for next time.

If your child borrowed books on Wednesday, they may be returned to me, or just return them to your local library and browse for some more! The due date is 18th September. I’ll send a general reminder the week before.

Meantime, enjoy the books with your children.

Father’s Day Fundraiser

We have 10 pairs of socks left so get your order in by the end of school today if you haven’t already.  We have order forms at the Office.

2024 Attendance Dues

This is just a friendly reminder that the first half of the 2024 Attendance Dues were due to be paid to the Proporietor by the end of Term 2.  If you have not done this can you please make this a priority.

If there are particular circumstances that have meant this has not occured then please contact the Principal to discuss this.  We are keen to work with you and acknowledge that everyones circumstances are different.

Thank you.

Emmanuel Music Showcase

On Wednesday 25th of September we will have our Emmanuel Music Showcase night at the Christchurch Community Church (Chinese Church) 286 Greers Road, Bryndwr from 7-8pm.

Featuring Senior Choir, Junior Choir, Orchestra, Senior Recorder Ensemble, Winning Bucket drumming class item, Marimba group, Year 7 and 8 Spoken fugue and our top soloists.

 Culture Day Update

Attention Parent Volunteers

Next Friday 30th August, we will have a chance for you to have a look around the hall and the outdoor space (for gazebos) so as to work out how much space each stall might need, the orientation of stalls, etc. Parent volunteers who can make it that day, please meet outside the hall at 2:50pm. If you can’t make it then, please contact Christine to arrange for a possible alternative. Thanks.

Business Enterprise Lunchtime Markets

As part of our Year 9 & 10 Economics programme, students are starting up their own business enterprise.  These businesses will be set up and run over three Tuesdays, the 20th of August, the 3rd and 17th of September.

The different groups will be selling food sush as pizza, hot chips, toasties, icecream and more.

Attached below, you will find an item and price list of goods so that you can have a discussion with your child about what they may like to purchase and have an idea about what is an appropriate amount of money.

Some groups will be doing a pre-order form so they know how many items they need to purchase. These orders will then be delivered to the classes at lunchtime.  The attached notice below has information on how to place a pre-order.

Duathlon

Our school Duathlon will take place on Thursday 29th August.
This is a fun event that is focused on participation and being part of a team.

All students are put into the team event, made up of two people, one runner and one biker (Yr1-4 can scooter if they don’t have a bike).   The runner will start and once completed, tag their partner to complete the bike/scooter.
Once completed, both people will run to the finish line together.

Please see the notice below for more information.
