Papanui Club Carpark – Safety Notice

Over the last few weeks the Papanui Club have observed some patterns with the use of their carpark they have asked us to bring to your attention.  They continue to be very happy for this space to be used, however, do ask that we follow the following guidelines.

1) While drivers should be travelling slowly and looking carefully, it is also critical that any pedestrians take care, look before they cross over the drive into the parking area and make use of the pedestrain crossing.

2) If you are using this area to drop off or pick up your children please do not stop on the drive area, it is important that cars move into marked carparks prior to letting passengers out.  Please do not just stop on the side of the drive to let students out of the car.

Thank you

School Photo Day

School photos will take place on Wednesday 12th June.  Each student will be photographed individually and with their class and sporting groups.
If you would like a group sibling photo to be taken (this can include younger siblings who do not yet attend ECS) please fill in the sibling photo form and return to the Office.  A paper notice has been sent home with your child/ren this week and we have also attached this below.  Please read this carefully for information on how the photo ordering system works.

Medication at school

When a child is enrolled, parents are asked to provide information on any medication that the student may be required to take. The school should be advised through the office if there is a change or any new medication required.

If your child may have need of medication at school we ask that you bring this to the Office in a clear plastic container and we will keep this in our sickbay to have on hand for when your child needs it.

The type of medications we are referring to are:  asthma inhaler (and spacer), allergy medication (for hayfever or other allergies), epi-pen, skin cream (for skin allergy/rash) etc.

If you already keep spare medication at school please pop in to the Office every quarter to check that the medication has not expired and that the recommended dosage on the label is still correct for your child’s weight (and that this is written on the label).  Keeping medications up to date is the parent’s responsibility.

If your child has a short-term health concern and requires prescription medicine (such as antibiotics) to be administered while they are at school please send this to the Office in a labeled container or plastic bag along with a medicine cup or spoon.

Sausage Sizzle at Bunnings

We are running another Sausage Sizzle on Saturday 1 June at Bunnings Warehouse Christchurch Airport, 655 Russley Road, Harewood from 10am – 4pm.

Emergency Mobile Alert Test – Sunday

This is just a reminder in case you have missed the messages in the Media, There is a scheduled nationwide test of Emergency Mobile Alert system this Sunday 26 May  between 6pm and 7pm. We expect over 5 million phones across NZ to receive the test alert.

About Emergency Mobile Alert

Emergency Mobile Alerts are messages about emergencies. They are sent by authorised emergency agencies to mobile phones.

Emergency Mobile Alerts keep people safe. They are broadcast to all capable phones from targeted cell towers to areas affected by serious hazards. You may not receive an alert if you are out of mobile coverage, mobile phone towers are damaged, or there is a power outage.

Our 2022 emergency preparedness survey showed that over 88% of people in New Zealand received the test or were with someone who did. In an emergency, if you receive an alert make sure you let the people around you know.

Emergency Mobile Alert is an extra channel to help keep you safe in an emergency. It does not replace other alerting systems or the need to take action after natural warnings.

You should still be prepared for an emergency, and you shouldn’t wait to get an alert before you act. If you feel your life is in danger, don’t wait for an official warning. Take immediate action.
