In response to the increasing number of Covid -19 cases being currently observed, the Ministries of Health and Education have asked all schools to update their mask wearing policies. As we have worked this through we have made the following changes to our Mask Policies, these will be reviewed again before the end of Week 4 (Friday 19th August).
From Monday 25th July the following Mask Policy will be in place:
– Staff and Students in classes from Years 5-10 should wear masks when inside unless they have a mask exemption. Information on getting an official mask exemption can be found at Mask Exemption Application.
It is noted that swimming is a time when wearing masks is not practical. There are other times (PE Lessons) where mask wearing may also be impractical.
– Staff and Students in Year 1-4, masks continue to be optional in class.
– Outside of classes, all staff should wear masks when in any indoor working spaces with other people present. This includes shared office spaces, staff meetings etc.
– Singing and playing wind instruments can continue, however, maintaining physical distancing and good ventilation is important.
– For Year 7-10 students this mask wearing requirement will include their offsite technology classes at Middleton Grange and Christchurch Adventist School. Middleton will ensure that this is the case for the Year 9-10 technology classes for students from all of the schools involved.
– Any parents and visitors on site will be asked to wear masks at all times
We know that that some of our tamariki and staff are exempt from wearing a mask. If they have an exemption card or a letter from their health provider, we will support them to not wear a mask. Apply for a face mask exemption pass – Unite Against COVID-19
Please note: If your child is unwell (including coughs, sore throats, running noses) can we please ask that you keep them home from school. If they do test positive for COVID-19 please continue to let us know as soon as practical.
